Grand Opening PA School

July 19, 2010 - Today was another big day for Peduli Anak as we held the Grand Opening of Peduli Anak School. The event with the theme "Education for Future Investment" also marked the first day of a new school term. Sixty Peduli Anak children, who used to go to schools outside, will now attend PA school. Among our distinguished guests were government officials, community leaders, and the main sponsors of the school, The Koper family and Ash Day, who donated the school building and teachers salaries, respectively.

The Grand Opening program was opened with a drama performance from Peduli Anak children. Some children performed a musical about how their school life in the new Peduli Anak school would be. After that, the principal of the school, Mr. Suhardi, expressed his gratitude on behalf of the foundation to our generous sponsors and his expectation to always improve the quality of education in the school to meet national and international standards.

As the sponsor of the school building, Peter Koper delivered a speech about how happy he was to be in the foundation for the second time and to see a big difference now with the new school in Peduli Anak. He was also impressed with the fast process of the school construction and licensing, which took less than nine months. In his speech, Mr. Koper also revealed a big surprise for the school principal. He announced that he would contribute the salary for the teachers for the whole next school term. Wonderful news that was applauded by everybody at the event.

He observed that Peduli Anak has organized good extracurricular activities in its vocational school. He expected Peduli Anak to collaborate with the National Education Board for making adjustments in the National Curriculum.
